5G rollout could grow fibre in South Africa – Huawei

Huawei South Africa outlined  how the rollout of 5G in South Africa could help with connectivity and coverage in terms of fibre, says  Miguel Geraldes, chief strategy architect at Huawei South Africa. Geraldes said this while speaking at the 2018 MyBroadband Conference. 

Huawei is one of China’s major technology giants and has found lots of success in South Africa with the products and services it offers. Geraldes said that for the expansion of fibre connectivity moving towards 5G networks is  needed and will enhance fibre-to-home connectivity.

5G and fibre will work together to bring greater and stronger connectivity while make sure South Africa doesn’t fall behind on world trends. Fibre connection is needed at all 5G sites  to prevent a decreasing in the range of the network.South Africa needs a wide range of network to grow it’s fixed broadband and further develop 5G.
