South Africa’s National Men’s and Ladies Football Teams to take on Arch-rivals, Nigeria

Banyana Banyana South Africa’s women national football team will be taking on Nigeria in their opening match of the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON), on Sunday in Ghana.

Banyana Banyana is a formidable team and will hope to have a good showing against the Nigerians as well as progress to next round of the tournament. The Nigerian Women national team the Super falcons are the defending champions which all make the in-counter a tricky task for South Africa.

Banyana Banyana has been the leading light when it comes to football in South Africa, having lesser resources they’ve also shown the willingness to fight. The match between Banyana and the Super Falcons will be a chance for the South African ladies to show that fight again and maybe pull off a shock victory.

Bafana Bafana the South African Men’s national football team will also be taking on their Nigerian male counter parts the Super Eagle in a qualifier match for the men’s Africa Cup of Nations. Bafana have struggled to impress for several years which has led to a large decline in support.

The match between Bafana and the Super Eagles is widely expected to be one side with Nigeria winning. If Bafana do lose, it will end their qualifying hopes and put the South African Football Association (SAFA) under immense scrutiny as to the direction of Men’s football in South Africa as well as its development.
