China’s president, Xi Jinping will be attending a regional summit in Russia, said officials. The summit is expected to include North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and the heads of Japan and South Korea.
Vladimir Putin, Russia’s president invited North Korean leader to part take in the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok from 11-13 September.
Kim has not yet confirmed attendance, as according to Business Times “his participation would mark another major step in his efforts to bring Pyongyang out of international isolation over its nuclear programme”.
Xi and Kim have already met three times this year in China, as China seeks to fix relations with North Korea.
