India and Japan concluded a successful first joint military exercise yesterday in Mizoram.
The exercise began on 1 November at Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School. The two-week exercise themed “Dharma Guardian 2018” is a significant step from India’s side of fostering military and diplomatic relations with Japan.
The exercise was more focused on the development of tactical skills in combat with global terrorism and increasing interoperability between both country’s military,
The Japan defence released a statement saying that ‘the primary focus of the exercise was to train and equip the contingents to undertake joint counter-insurgency and counter-terrorist operations in urban and semi urban terrain.”
