India is building the world’s tallest monument in India’s Gujarat state to tribute one of their great independence heroes, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.  The statue is expect to reach 182-metre-high more than twice the height of the Statue of Liberty in York City and even taller than the Spring Temple Buddha in China.

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi dream project, will be known as the statue of unity once completed.

Situated to look over the Sardar Sarovar Dam, with an estimated to cost 29.9-billion-rupee ($430 million) it is forecasted that the statue will attract as many tourists as the Statue of Liberty.

There are 2500 builders working to bring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s project to life, the deadline date is set for Modi’s inauguration on October 31, but it is widely believed that the target date will be missed.

There is also another monument being built just off the shores line of Mumbai, this is dedicated to Hindu warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji. The Chhatrapati Shivaji statue is set to be taller and even more costly than the Statue of Unity. It will show Chhatrapati Shivaji on horseback, with a sword.
