The IDC conference centre in Sandton is hosting the fourth Metals and Engineering Indaba. The event opened today and will conclude on Friday. The indaba is organized by the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA) and it is purposed with creating a framework for policy makers, labour representatives and the metal and engineering industry.
The annual meeting will hold discussions on challenges operating in the industry and provide the opportunity to collaborate to create a sustainable solution for manufacturing in the metal works and the engineering sector. This year’s indaba will result in the direct influence of policy with the goal of adopting them in to resolutions.
In attendance, Minister in the Presidency Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Former ANC Treasurer-General Mathews Phosa. Phosa will deliver the opening address tomorrow morning. Democratic Alliance Leader Mmusi Maimane will be delivering the closing address on Friday.

Other discussion areas include how far along South Africa is in the implementation of the National Development Plan. Barriers to investment in the Metals and Engineering Sector creating better cooperation between the metal, engineering and mining industry, are also in discussion.
