FIFA 2026 World Cup Votes: Morocco Vs North America

FIFA will meet today for their annual congress, ahead of the World Cup 2018 which commences in Russia tomorrow. The most important item on the agenda today will be the voting of who will host the 2026 World Cup. There is a joint bid by North America, United States, Mexico and Canada, against the African country, Morocco. Both North America and Morocco are confident about winning the votes.

Other items on the agenda will include the consideration of the proposed changes to the FIFA’s status, the potential suspension or expulsion of members, especially Ghana Soccer Association, which is in the middle of a corruption crisis that was exposed publicly, reporting from different regions and also talks about rules and committee assignments.

The VII Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) kicks off in Russia

The VII Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) is currently underway in Russia.  The MCIS was launched by the Russian Ministry of Defence in 2012, and has since played a vital role in global and regional security affairs. Defence Ministers, government officials and security experts from all over the world have all gathered to come up with solutions to pressing security affairs. South Africa’s National Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula also makes out part of this delegation. Mapisa-Nqakula will meet with her Russian counterpart Sergey Shoygu, to discuss various bilateral defence issues.

The Mercury reports that the focus of this year’s conference is the defeat of terrorists in Syria, where the Russians will talk about combating ISIL as well as “provide estimates on further development of the situation in the Middle East, including post-conflict rehabilitation.

Other security issues affecting Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America are also on the agenda, with a special plenary session dedicated to the “soft power” phenomenon as a tool to pursue military-political objectives.

Delegates from as many as 95 countries are expected to attended the 7th annual MCIS. Russian Ministry of Defence has said that 30 Defence Ministers globally have confirmed attendance, as well as members of 8 international organisations and 68 foreign security experts.

Power charging stations for electric busses to be created in Moscow

On 2 June 2017, at 17:30, in the Hall for signing agreements H2 (Pavillion H), within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Siemens AG and VNIIR JSC (part of the ABS Electro group) signed an agreement on intentions to work together in projects on the creation of charging infrastructure for electric buses in Russia.

The project was initiated by the Department of Transport of Moscow, as well as other Russian regions interested in the introduction of new technologies. It is worth noting that the Moscow authorities implement the corresponding infrastructure solutions for the capital, including the purchase of electric buses.

Siemens AG has a widely-known experience in development and production of different types of power equipment for mass transit system electrification, particularly high-power fast-charging stations for electric buses. The charging time for such stations is 4-10 minutes, while the whole process is carried out through automated pantographs (current collectors). Such infrastructure projects are already implemented in several European cities such as Hamburg, Stockholm, Vienna, Goteborg and Montreal etc. where till present successfully function innovative environmentally friendly mass transit.

VNIIR JSC is well-experienced in development, production, and implementation of wide spectre of power equipment on the Russian market and particularly in Moscow.

Successful experience of operating electric busses shows that implementation and thewide use of innovative environmentally friendly mass transit, allow to achieve high energy efficiency rates, reduce the risk of congestion due to the use of a more mobile mode of transport, and significantly reduce noise and gas pollution by eliminating CO2 emissions and using energy from renewable sources.
